Boil Water Notice for customers affected by today’s outage

January 26, 2026

Public Water System

NAME: South Rains Special Utility District

ID: 1900009

Boil Water Notification

BOIL YOUR WATER BEFORE USING

Condition(s) Requiring Notice

Our water system is issuing a boil water notice due to the following condition(s): Due to a water outage/low pressure on Rt 3, (Prospect Pump Station).

Potential Adverse Health Effects

Due to the conditions, there is a possibility of contamination. Consumption of contaminated water may cause symptoms such as nausea, cramps, diarrhea, and associated headaches.

What Should I Do?

DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.

What is Being Done?

Storage tanks are back to filling up and able to send water to system. Samples are being sent to lab.

We will inform you when we have addressed the cause of the boil water notice and tests show no bacteria are present and you no longer need to boil your water.
