Boil Water Notice for Community Public Water Systems
06/19/2025
Due to water outage from a line break on our wholesale provider’s line, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the South Rains Special Utility District PWS#1900009 public water system to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc). Children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions).
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.
In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the public water system officials will notify customers that the water is safe for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will issue a notice to customers that rescinds the boil water notice in a manner similar to this notice.
Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.
If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact Rachel Webb at 903-473-2122, 121 N Dunbar Ln, Emory, TX, or email @ southrainssud@outlook.com

***Change in Date***
I apologize but we were contacted by our contracted crew Wednesday afternoon and they will not be making repair until Monday morning.
We would like to inform our customers of a planned water outage scheduled for the morning of Monday, June 23rd. The outage will begin around 8:00 AM and may extend until approximately 2:00 PM. This interruption is necessary to carry out essential repairs at our pump station located in Prospect. During this time, the water supply will be turned off to facilitate the replacement of the pressure tank.
This outage will affect all customers on Route 3 who receive their water from the Prospect pump station. If you are uncertain whether you are impacted, please do not hesitate to contact our office for clarification.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. A contracted crew will be handling the tank installation, and the time frame provided reflects their estimated schedule. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to improve our infrastructure.
